During some recent discussions with a couple of other libertarians, we attempted to come up with an idea of what a British Libertarian Party's Statement of Intent would look like.
Such a statement should be a concise summation of the general beliefs of the party members, but should also give an idea of what the party wanted to achieve. A number of ideas were kicked around, but I thought that I would treat you all to my suggestion.
The Libertarian Party (of Great Britain) ackowledges that every adult is the sole and sovereign owner of their life, liberty and property; that every citizen of Great Britain should be free from violence or coercion unless they be convicted of a crime under the long-established Common Law by a jury of their peers; and that the sole role of the state shall be to protect these freedoms.
What do you think? All ideas, comments and alternative submissions welcomed in the comments!
